Spring Term 1

Our Nursery children loved their visit from Thunder, the Therapy Husky. The children had to introduce themselves to Thunder, before giving him a treat and a cuddle! Thunder was extremely calm and placid and put the children and staff at ease. A special ‘Thank You’ to our PTA for donating some money towards this experience, as well as Nursery Parents and Carers who contributed too.

Autumn Term 2

Reception Class have really enjoyed our topics this half term: The Three Billy Goats Gruff, Owl Babies and Christmas! Here are a few photos of our Owl Babies visitor and Polar Express Treat Day.

Autumn 1

During our Halloween topic, the Nursery children created a Spider’s Web with wool on the music stands. They enjoyed weaving and twisting the wool around the stands, making it tricky for a spider to get in or out of. The children even dressed up as spiders and had to crawl, climb and slither between the ‘web’.

Autumn 2

Nursery enjoyed lots of Messy Play here! We are lucky to have some waterproof trousers and the children tried hard to pull them on over their own clothes independently, as well as putting on their wellies. The children used their fine and gross motor skills to collect, scoop and brush the materials and even when it rained; we put up our hoods and carried on!

In Nursery this week we have been looking at The Three little pigs. Outside, we worked together using our problem solving skills to make homes for the pigs! Great team work Nursery.

Here is a sample of our brilliant creative work. The Nursery worked together on this activity to make straw, stick and brick houses.

Although the Nursery children enjoyed talking about picking and carving pumpkins, we were keen for them to observe the changes over time. The children were fascinated by the ‘mouldy’, ‘black bits’ and wrinkly appearance of the decaying pumpkin. We observed similar changes with a sunflower, leaves and a red pepper.

The children used their fine motor skills to stick shapes onto a pumpkin, make paper chains and used their threading skills to make spider’s webs. Some children painted with brushes and created ghosts and pumpkins.
